The Ganjam district branch of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) celebrated the BMS’ 60th foundation day here on Wednesday. District branch president Brundaban Sabat presided over the meeting.
Hundreds of representatives from the BMS’ affiliated unions participated in the celebration. Addressing the gathering, BMS State secretary Dillip Das stressed the need of unity of all working class people as it would help an effective collective bargaining.
Das demanded adequate social security for the unorganised labourers, implementation of minimum wages to workers, bringing MGNRGEA under the purview of agricultural labourers and treating Anganwadi workers, Asha Karmis and Pachikas as Government employees.
It was decided to extend the BMS’ network at block and panchayat levels.
