Hundreds of agitating students of the Nrushingh Nath Mahavidyalaya at Mahanadpur under Chhatrapur block in Ganjam district locked the college gate on Monday protesting against the hike in readmission fee.
Mention may be made that earlier the fee prescribed for readmission into the Second Year Plus Two course was Rs 2,000, which has now been hiked to Rs 3,087 by the college authorities, leading to the students’ unrest.
Notably, most of the students of village Mahanadpur, 25 km from here, and its adjoining areas belong to farmers’ families. Any nominal hike in the readmission fee creates huge public outcry in the locality.
