In the State, mothers and sisters are not treated in a dignified manner. From the State capital to the villages, murders are taking place in broad daylight. The State Government has failed miserably to tackle the law and order situation, alleged BJP leader and lawyer Pitambar Acharya at a Press conference here on Tuesday. Acharya said district Collectors are acting like presidents and Superintendents of Police like general secretaries of the BJD. In the Chief Minister’s home district Ganjam, crimes and violence are the highest in the State. BJP workers are being targeted by BJD workers. Similarly, the mother of slain BJD youth leader laxmidutta Pradhan , his mother has taken the names of the accused but they are moving scot-free. The district police has turned into a tool in the hands of the BJD, he alleged. The Ganjam police have held more than 32 encounters. This is against the law and even the Supreme Court has earlier criticised it, Acharya said.
