Following the arrest of Microfinance ltd managing director Durga Prasad Mishra on Sunday by the CBI, rumours are rife that some Ganjam politicians are involved in the chit fund scam.
Mishra’s explosive statement to media on Monday about involvement of bigwigs with his company has fuelled the speculations. Specific revelations are expected in the course of the CBI’s interrogation of Mishra which began from Tuesday.
It is believed that a ruling party leader had helped the Microfinance run his business in the State.
The CBI might interrogate Mishra about transaction, source, investment and deposits of his company money. The Central investigating agency examined Mishra’s call details to know about his link with bigwigs.
The agency also interrogated about violation of RBI guidelines by Mishra’s company and then influencing officials of the Panchayati Raj Department to run his business, sources said.
Meanwhile, the Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of former Keonjhar BJD MlA Subarna Naik who was arrested by the CBI in connection with the chit fund scam.
On December 11, the court had kept its verdict reserved on the bail petition for Tuesday.
Notably, Naik was one of the directors of chit fund firm Nabadiganta Capital Services and was arrested by the CBI on charges of his links with the firm on November 4.
