Ganjam NAC dev works stopped suddenly

Published on:

All ongoing development works of Ganjam NAC area have recently been stopped after an order from NAC Executive Officer Abinash Mishra.

The sudden decision to halt different projects when many are in an advanced stage has sparked resentment in the area.

All contractors received both phone call and letters from the NAC office to stop all ongoing works with immediate effect.

It is informed that a two-member Vigilance team has  come to Ganjam NAC on Monday and asked a list of last two years development works. The team has also visited a development site for inspection.

The pending works will be restarted only after a clean chit from the Vigilance department, said EO Abinash Mishra.

On the other side,Vice Chairman Surendra Kumar Bariki along with Councillors Purushottam Sahu, Chandra Sekhar Reddy, Sujata Mohanty, Sanjukta Das, Mahalaxmi Nayak and Sabit Behera visited several development work  sites on Tuesday in the NAC area and asked the contractors to stop their work. They accused that the construction work of a smart park in Karan street of Ward No. 01 has already been completed 8 months before the schedule but its bill is still not cleared. The deliberate delay in clearing the bills of certain contractors is one of reasons of resentment, said Vice Chairman Bariki.

Locals are demanding a permanent solution to the problem for the progress of Ganjam NAC.
