A 33-year old person, Babu Dakua, belonging to a BPl family of Khanduru village under Polasara block in Ganjam district is seeking monetary assistance to undergo a serious heart surgery.
Sources said Dakua along with two of his family members had gone to Bangalore some days back. They visited door-to-door seeking financial help for the heart surgery of Babu. They went to Banglore-based Shri Satha Sai Hospital for treatment, but doctors at the hospital denied them to conduct surgery free of cost. later, they went to the Vydehi Hospital, where the doctors told them that a few lakhs would be charged for the surgery.
Accidentally, Debshankar Das, an alumnus of the IIT Kharagpur, met the three hapless people and got to know about their plight. Das later informed the matter to the Ganjam district administration over phone.
The district authorities asked them to return Brahmapur for treatment as Government assistance can only be provided if the person will undergo treatment at any hospital inside the State. Babu and his family members are now seeking monetary help at all level for the treatment of Babu.
