Some villagers of Dhepaguda in Ganjam district killed a 50-year-old man on suspicion of practising witchcraft, police said
on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Prakash Mallick of Dhepaguda village. After killing the victim, the villagers tried to burn the body fully on the village graveyard on Monday night to hide the crime.
Official sources said the police have seized some bones and ashes from the cremation ground which would be sent to the forensic department for laboratory test.
Deceased’s son Naveen Mallick has lodged a complaint with the police about the death of his father. Ten persons have been detained in connection with the incident.
