A national-level lok Adalat was held in Ganjam district’s Civil Court premises here on Saturday.
The lok Adalat chaired by District and Sessions Judge Malaya Ranjan Das disposed of a total of 639 accidental cases of insurance companies.
As many as 176 cases were settled including 51 of the Oriental Insurance Company, 19 of the United Insurance Company, nine of the New India Insurance Company, 16 of the National Insurance Company and 81 of private insurance companies. The companies were directed to pay `3,79,32,500 as insurance money.
A total of 18 cases of the United India Insurance Company were settled and `47. Around 48 lakh paid to the claimants. Company’s divisional manager Motilal Panda, assistant manager Pradeep Kumar Dash and administrative officer G Krishna Mohan were present, among others.
Additional District Judge Pradeep Patnaik, 3rd Additional District Judge Rekha Prasad, Chhatrapur Additional District Judge Sovana Kumar Dash, Bhanjanagar Additional District Judge Bidhan Kumar Chand and Aska Additional District Judge Santosh Kumar Jena adjudicated the cases.
