Ganjam Kissan Morcha holds 'Betrayal Day'

Published on:

The Sanyukta Kissan Morcha Ganjam district unit  on Monday observed  'Betrayal Day' here protesting against the Central Government's dillydallying attitude in keeping its promises after withdrawal of the three draconian farm laws.

Hundreds of Morcha members came in a procession shouting slogans against the Modi Government at the Centre and held a demonstration at the Old Bus-Stand and later submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the RDC (Southern Range).

The Kissan leaders said the December 9 letter of Union Government based on which the Kissan Morcha withdrew the year-long agitation in Delhi was actually not followed up. The Union Government has not shown any progress yet to implement the promises they made except the withdrawal of the three laws.

They cautioned that if the Centre fails to fulfil the genuine demands of the farmers and keep its promises, the farmers would once again come to streets and intensify their agitation.

As no tangible action has taken on the MSP guarantee, withdrawal of cases lodged against farmer leaders and action on the Lakhmipur Kheri incident, the farmers found no other way but to observe a national protest on Monday as “Betrayal Day”.
