The Brahmapur Development Authority (BDA) has given its final approval for establishment of the proposed Ganjam Haat at the Corporation Road here.
The Haat, which will come up at a total cost of Rs 30 crore, will house 66 shops and a visitors’ gallery having 3,000 sitting capacity. While both ethnic and traditional items will be sold at the haat, there will be cultural evenings regularly. All required facilities for women, children, senior citizens and physically-challenged persons will be available, besides parking systems in the proposed market area.
A total of 37 shops, which will be built in shape of a three-storied building, would be sold to people for funds generation, informed BDA Vice-Chairman and BMC Commissioner Chakraborty Singh Rathore.
Among others, MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu, MLAs Bikram Kumar Panda, Dr Pradeep Panigrahi, Subas Behera and BDA Secretary Sambit Rout were present. Tender would be floated for the haat in coming 45 days.
