The Forum for Ganjam, an umbrella organisation of intellectuals, NGOs, political parties and general public, has written a letter to the newly-appointed Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar urging him to appoint a fulltime Director for the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) here and to ensure development of infrastructures at its permanent campus.

The letter said the IISER is one of the premiere institutions in science education. To ensure participation of the better lot of students and teachers, it has to be made a full-fledged institute as soon as possible, the forum members have demanded.

They requested the HRD Minister to appoint a fulltime director, who can execute selection of the best possible faculty team and speedy execution of the infrastructure development works.

A fulltime director and development of infrastructure, well in time, can assure the best brains of their better prospects and can attract them to the institute, they have argued.
