The Haldiapadar north bridge has turned into a death trap for the city residents. Due to faulty construction work in the bridge, till now about ten persons have died and many have been injured from the day one of the construction of the bridge.
But due to political reasons, the bridge is not being made functional.
Meanwhile, Ganjam district Collector Prem Chandra Choudhury has held discussion with the Works Department and the NHAI and said minor changes would be made in the course of the over-bridge. Besides, Choudhury said a change will be made at the spot connecting to the national highway with the bridge and a traffic post will be installed near the Haldiapadar bus stand square.
It might be mentioned here that the Haldiapadar the new bus stand, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minster about one and a half years ago, is still lying unused. According to sources, bus services will be started by December from Haldiapadar bus stand.
