Four of hardcore criminals caught in ‘operation encounter’ that began in Ganjam and Brahmapur police districts on March 22, 2016, have lost one leg each due to severe bullet injuries.
“We have conducted a total of 24 encounters and caught many hardcore criminals, including some most wanted ones. The police action has lessened crime incidents in the district,” claimed SP Ashish Singh.
He said illegal trade of guns and other lethal weapons was on rise in the district in which many young boys were involved. The situation has come under control now, he said.
The four criminals who have lost one leg each are lambu Tarini, Jitu Sethi, Bhikari Dash and Depak Mandal. lambu’s right leg has been amputed, according to information.
Despite police actions, incidents of dacoity, theft and gang war are still on the rise in Brahmapur city.
