A youth, his mother and his sister were arrested and court-forwarded on Wednesday on the charge of killing the youth’s wife, Barsha Roul for dowry at
Puruna Patana village under the Chhatrapur police station recently.
The arrestees were identified as the deceased’s husband Titu Roul, mother-in-law Sukanti Roul and sister-in-law Manjula. Barsha’s father-in-law is also an accused in the case. All dowry items have been seized and handed over to Barsha’s parents, informed Chhatrapur PS IIC Priyash Ranjan Chhotray.
Chhotray said Barsha with severe burn injuries had been shifted from MKCG Medical College Hospital to the SCB Medical College Hospital on September 2. However, she succumbed to injuries there.
Barsha’s brother had lodged a complaint alleging that she was killed by in-laws for nonpayment more dowry. On his complaint, the in-laws have been arrested, said the IIC.
