The elections for the office-bearers of the prestigious Ganjam Bar Association were held on Saturday in the court premises. While Kapileswar Pattnaik was elected as president, Basanta Kumar Rout was elected as vice-president. RK Maharana and Sreedhar Sahu were elected as secretary and joint secretary, respectively. The election was conducted by Nayana Mahapatra. During election, outgoing chairman and senior lawyer Bhagaban Sahu and outgoing secretary of the Ganjam Bar Association lawyer Sudhanshu Sekhar Panda were present.
The election was conducted peacefully. Mention may be made that a total of 1,098 lawyers exercised their franchise out of 1,333 enrolled for the State Bar Council. Lawyer Prof (Dr) Krushna Chandra Panda congratulated newly elected office bearers.
