Ganjam Amalas' cease-work enters 19th day

Published on:

The cease-work agitation being staged by Ganjam district Rajaswa Amalas here to press for implementation of their four demands entered 19th day on Saturday.

The Amalas have been demanding an increase in their salary, introduction of Executive Assistant post instead of clerk posts and creation of a special Amala cadre for long. As the authorities didn’t pay any heed to their demands despite repeated requests, the Amalas began cease-work agitation on May 1.

Due to the stir, day-to-day works in offices of the district Collector, Sub-Collectors, blocks and tehsils have been severely hit. The Amalas have threatened to continue the agitation until their demands have not been met.

Meanwhile, a team of Amalas held discussions with fuintionaris of the State Amala Sangha regarding their demands.
