A man was found bludgeoned to death with a stone in the premises of a temple at Chingudighai under the Purushottampur police station in Ganjam district.
The deceased was identified as Binay Pradhan. The assailant has written the name of the next victim on his hit list in the blood of the deceased.
This has triggered fear among the villagers as they suspect the killing to be the handiwork of a psychopath or a serial killer.However, the Binay’s family alleged that he had been murdered for opposing illegal liquor sale in the area.
As many seven to eight persons are involved in the murder of Binay brother as he had been opposing the sale of illicit liquor by them. There were some disputes between him and some youths. They have killed him, alleged the deceased’s brother Prashant.
However, whether the killing is fallout of old enmity or is the job of a serial killer, would be ascertained after the murder after the police nab Binay’s killers.
Sources said the next person on the list, is a driver named Gauda and he is a friend of the deceased. Meanwhile, police have detained three persons for questioning and further investigations were ongoing.
