Excise sleuths seized around 90 kg of ganja worth Rs 9 lakh and arrested a person in this connection at Badapari village under the Tangi police station in Khurda district. The accused was forwarded to court on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the excise officials under the direct supervision of District Excise Superintendent Harish Chandra Nayak on Tuesday night raided the house of the accused Sarat Patra (40), a resident of Badapari, and seized the ganja from his possession. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the accused.
The police sources said Sarat packed the substance in pouches and sold them for Rs 10,000 per kg.
