The Jharsuguda police seized about 11.5 kg of cannabis (ganja) and busted a 10-member racket, including a police Havildar, Vikram Mallick.
A team of police, during a routine check, seized 500 grams of cannabis from a jeep in which eight youths were sitting on Sunday evening. During interrogation, the youths told police that a racket, in which they are a part, were supplying cannabis to local peddlers in the district. They informed that Havildar Vikram Mallick had 11 kgs of cannabis in his possession then.
The team immediately conducted a raid and seized 6 kg of cannabis from Mallick's house in Devadihi and remaining 5 kgs form house of another key member, Bhagwan Patel, in Purana basti.
Jharsuguda Town police IIC KS Naik said all 10 members of the gang, including Mallick, were arrested and sent to judicial custody.
