Unidentified miscreants barged into the Malkhana on the premises of a Kandhamal court and decamped with five bags of ganja weighing around 1 quintal in the wee hours of Monday. Sources said that the miscreants entered into the court premises at around 2 am on six motorcycles and broke the Malkhana window.
The two on-duty watchmen spotted them and immediately rushed to the spot and tried to stop them. But the miscreants brandished sharp weapons and sped away with the ganja bags, sources said.
On being informed, police reached the spot with sniffer dogs at 2.30 am and launched an investigation. The stolen contraband is estimated to be worth Rs 7 lakh, police said. Police have formed special teams to nab the looters and are conducting raids at different places, sources said.
