Notorious gangster and tender mafia Anil Chhotray and his two associates were arrested from Nayagarh on Thursday on the charge of tender-fixing.
Chhotray had been released from the Jharpada Special Jail about five months ago. He was the prime accused in the Prachi Division double murder case in 2005. The Bhubaneswar Second Additional District Sessions Judge Court here in May last year had acquitted him and 15 others in the murder case due to lack of evidence.
On April 18, 2005, two petty contractors Rubu alias Subash Chandra Das and Dhiren Kumar Sethi had been chased and shot dead near the Prachi Division Executive Engineer’s office in the heart of city by three unidentified armed assailants over tender-fixing issue.
The Commissionerate Police had nabbed Chhotray from Satya Nagar almost four years after the Prachi Division murder incident.
