A 32-year-old married woman, who was raped by two youths at Siadimala village under Jeypore block in Koraput district on December 5, died while undergoing treatment at the Saheed Laxman Nayak (SLN) Medical College Hospital in Koraput on Thursday.
The woman’s death triggered tension at the hospital after irate villagers rushed there and alleged medical negligence.
Sources said the husband of the woman is mentally ill while her mother-in-law is visually-impaired. Taking advantage of her situation, the two youths of the same village had raped her in her house. She was first rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here in a critical condition and later shifted to the SLN Medical College Hospital.
Later, her husband and mother-in-law had lodged a complaint at the Jeypore Sadar police station. The police registered a case after recording the statement of the victim and arrested the accused duo identified as Kamal Lochan Dandasena (25) and Ramesh Dandasena (25).
