Gangrape: Being threatened by police, alleges victim

Published on:

Even as police are still in the dark after 10 days about the accused involved in the gangrape of a minor tribal girl at Kunduli in the district, the victim on Sunday made some damaging allegations against cops.

The girl, who is presently undergoing treatment at a hospital, alleged that police are threatening her. She said a woman constable threatened her to speak details of the rape incident. The constable also allegedly said that had it been a police station, she would have thrashed the girl to get the details. However, police were yet to react to the girl’s allegations.

Meanwhile, a juvenile who was detained by police in connection with the case and also had undergone lie detection tests at the State Forensic laboratory in Bhubaneswar on October 18, was released by police. The boy also said police had warned him of dire consequences if he did not cooperate with them. He further said out of fear, he had lied to police.

However, after the release of all four suspects by police, investigations are again back to square one and eyebrows are being raised on their probe.

Three days ago, Director General of Police RP Sharma had said police have got some leads and investigations are on the right track.
