The residents of Kanjiagoda Basti, Ganganagar, near the Biju Patnaik International Airport, have been living under utter hardships after their houses and shanties were demolished on April 5 for illegal possession and restoring the land to the airport. However, the Orissa High Court intervening in the matter passed an order on April 8 directing the authorities to return the land to the occupants. But the order was yet to be carried out.
The evicted residents lamented that when they are living in roof less places in the ongoing scorching heat, the authorities need to take urgent step to carry out the court order and restore back the land.
In a letter to the Airport Director, they urged for necessary steps to safeguard their life and livelihood.
