Police on Monday managed to prevent a clash between two notorious groups, the Bijipur Narasinha Sethi gang and the Gosaninuagaon Santosh Sahu gang, in the city and arrested 17 members of both rival gangs.

Earlier, the two gangs had a faceoff on October 12. On October 8, some Gosaninuagaon gang members had confronted their Bijipur counterparts.

This led to a scuffle between the two sides and some Narasinha gang members attacked one Pintu Behera of the Gosaninuagaon gang near the Congress office.

However, none of the groups complained about the incident to the police. In the meantime, both the groups planned to attack each other. But the police managed to get information and conducted raids and seized 17 swords and other lethal weapons from the gangsters’ possession.

later, the Town police station and the Gosaninuagaon police station registered two separate cases and arrested the accused.
