Two senior State Congress leaders met All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief spokesperson Ganeswar Behera and Rajya Sabha member Ranjib Biswal called on the party high command separately and expressed their views about the current state of affairs of the party in the country as well as in the State.
“I apprised Soniaji and Rahulji about the current state of affairs of the party and also of the State. We discussed on various issues starting from strengthening of party organisations to the power cut and drought issues in Odisha,” said Behera.
Behera added that the party high command focused on meticulous planning and strategy to take on the ruling party in Odisha.
Sources also claimed that Biswal also met the mother-son duo.
last week during the party’s Jagaran Yatra in the State, five Congress MlAs Naba Das, Jogesh Singh, Subal Sahu, Krushna Chandra Sagaria and Ansuman Mohanty had visited New Delhi to meet the party high command seeking return of suspended leader Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and an important assignment to Niranjan Patnaik. This had raised many eyebrows in political circles. However, PCC president Prasad Harichandan had downplayed the visit, terming it at a routine affair.
