Ganesh Chaturthi was observed with religious fervour and gaiety at homes and temples on Friday in the capital city.

Devotees, mostly students and youths, thronged several temples and their respective educational institutions to worship and seek the blessings of lord Ganesh.

Special bhajan and kirtan were organised in different well-decorated locations and temples.

Hundreds of pandals have been set up in several residential localities, shopping areas and prime locations across the city with colourful Ganesh idols in different sizes and shapes installed on decked-up platforms.

The Sahid Nagar pandal drew huge crowds of devotees throughout the day as it had the biggest idol in the city. However, tension ran high near the Unit-8 puja pandal for some time where Bajrang Dal activists protested the Gnaesh idol displayed as a CBI official.

Police made elaborate arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations of the fest and regulated devotees flocking to the Ganesh temples across the city. Arrangement were made for safe celebration of the fest at other places.
