Senior citizens of Gandhinagar ward here held a meeting on Thursday and formed a body named “Gandhinagar Senior Citizens’ Forum (GSCF)” to take up grievances of senior citizens with the appropriate authorities for timely solution.
Members unanimously nominated social activist and advocate Prof Krushna Chandra Panda as its founding president.
Panda said the forum’s first priority would be to ensure security to senior citizens and help them lead peaceful and dignified life.
He said efforts would be made for implementation of pro-senior citizen welfare schemes and provision of a compatible ambience in terms of cleanliness and sanitation for them in the area.
Panda has sought cooperation of both the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) authorities and the police administration for giving special attention to the Gandhinagar locality.s
