Though it has been repeatedly told that Mahatma Gandhi was not allowed inside the Puri Jagannath Temple, history reveals otherwise.
Way back in 1921, the Father of the Nation went to the temple along with Pandit Gopabandhu Das and had darshan of the Trinity. Gandhiji along with wife Kasturba went to the shrine when he visited Odisha from March 27 to 29 March, 1921.
After his visit to the temple, Gandhi wrote down his experience in the April 10 edition of the Navajivan Patrika.
