Gana Shikshaks seek job regularisation

Published on:

A large number of Gana Shikshaks on Tuesday held a massive rally in front of the Assembly here and tried to march towards the Assembly building by breaking the security barricade to press their demands.

“During our last agitation in December last year the Chief Minister assured us that the Gana Shikshaks who have competed the six years in job will be regularised in two months. But though four months have been elapsed nothing tangible has happened as yet,” said the Odisha Gana Shikshak Mahasangha secretary.

The agitating teachers took out their protest rally from the Railway station and reached at lower PMG shouting anti-Government slogans.  “Gana Sikhyaks have already spent 20 years in different positions and most of them have aged. Neither the Government is taking steps to regularise their service nor increasing their salaries,” rued the secretary.

They also tried to break the last the security barricade to march towards the Assembly. However, the security personnel prevented them.  If the Government does not fulfil its earlier assurance, the agitation would continue, the secretary warned.
