Several parts the district, including the district headquarters, Jaleswar, Nilgiri, Oupada and adjoining areas, witnessed cyclonic storm along with thunder and hail storm on Wednesday afternoon, which uprooted trees and electricity poles.
Power supply was disrupted in the affected areas for several hours. The exact loss owing to the damage is yet to be ascertained. A stage erected for a spiritual gathering at the Stadium Ground in Baleswar town was dislodged due to the gale.
