A 15-member fact-finding team of the All Orissa lawyers’ Association (AOlA) led by its president Gyana Ranjan Mohanty visited Kendrapada to collect information regarding the ‘barbaric’ attack on people, including lawyer Duryadhan Sahu, during the agitation against Sarathi Baba on August 7.
The team along with Kendrapada District Bar Association members met the district Collector Debaraj Senapati and requested him to conduct an inquiry into the incident and to provide compensation to those who were injured in police attacks.
The team also urged the Collector to request the Home Secretary to conduct a thorough inquiry into the police excesses so that the Government can take appropriate action against former SP Satish Gajbhiye.
Mohanty said the Collector assured them that he would look into their demands soon.
later, the AOlA team met incumbent Kendrapada SP Nitinjeet Singh and requested him to conduct an inquiry into police excesses committed under Gajbhiye’s guidance.
