Published on:

After facing cyclone and floods, now hundreds of people launched an agitation by blocking roads demanding relief and polythene at different places in  Gajapati district.

The agitators alleged that even 12 days after the calamities, they have been deprived of relief. The affected people have been facing untold miseries due to further rains and floods. They also blamed the district administration for mismanagement of free kitchens and failing to provide cash incentive of Rs 300 for dal and rice of 25 kg. People’s representatives of about 13 GPs of R Udayagiri block also   blamed that the list prepared by the Revenue Inspector to get compensation is faulty.

Though they made complaint about the matter to the district administration, no action has been taken till now, they said. The Sub-Collector had also assured that all the relief materials would be dispatched from October 23, but after so many days there is no result, they said. While asked, the sarpanch said the present available rice is BPl rice and the relief rice and money would be distributed according to the Relief Code with their availability.
