Over 500 tribal men and women under the banner of the Adibasi Adhikar Manch on Wednesday organised a rally from the State Bank area to the tehsil office at Mohana in Gajapati district in protest against the ‘lackadaisical’ attitude of the district administration in providing land to them under the Forest Rights Act 2006.

The tribals led by Manch president Dandapani Raita staged a demonstration at the tehsil office. They demanded forestland be given to them at the earliest.

They too alleged that the Teshildar had on May 18 issues a notice to provide revenue land to Tibet refugees in 12 mouzas but didn’t inform the local residents about the same. They demanded that the lease be cancelled soon and the land be handed over to them at the ealiest.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to Tehsildar Kalyani Sanghamitra Devi urging her to send the same to the Chief Secretary.
