Senior BJP leader Krushna Chandra Jagdeb has thanked Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkiri for including the New Jagannath Sadak in the National Highway fold. Jagdeb, who is also the convener of the Jagannath Sadak Surakshya Parishad, had been spearheading a movement and staged many demonstration for the last five years demanding the NH tag to the Jagannath Sadak.
The 103-kilometer road from Pratap Purusottampur would connect Puri- Bhubaneswar NH-316 to NH-5 and further proceed to Sarankul in Nayagarh district. While over 10 lakh residents would be benefitted from the road, pilgrims coming to Puri from southern districts would find it easy and cost effective, said the BJP leader.
