The locals of Namnagada Gram Panchayat which is under Gumma block of Gajapati district have been demanding a weekly market for last 20 years.
They have been raising their demands before the State Government, MLA, and other people’s representatives. However, they continued to be cast a deaf ear until recently.
On December 5, Congress leader Dr TirupathiPanigrahi visited Namnagada village to meet the people. The locals raised the demand for the haat before Panigrahi.
Panigrahi promised them that he will definitely work whole heartedly to build a market in Namnagada village as soon as possible.
Under the leadership of Panigrahi, people suo motto donated to build the market and finally, it has been a reality now.
Locals like Adanga Sabara, KhatrebariaBisay, Mohana Missal and Daniel Gomango said the 20 years of demand was fulfilled within 15 days after the intervention of Panigrahi. Nearly 20 villages under the Namnagada panchayat will now be benefitted due to the haat.
