In another development in the case of two sisters suicide at Chelligada village under R Udaygiri block of Gajapati district on September 28, police on Thursday arrested four members of the deceased’s family.
The R Udaygiri police, who had began investigation after lodging a suicide case, initially grilled the deceased’s elder sister Priyanka Sahu and her husband Ganesh Sahu.
During interrogation both of them confessed of their involvement in this case.
Later, the police interrogated the deceased father PramodAchari and mother RajeswariAchari and were able to crack the mystery behind the girl’s suicide.
The police arrested both parents of the deceased sisters after finding their involvement in this murder case.
During interrogation police ascertained that Pramodh Achari’s third daughter Sapna Achari’s (19) marriage was fixed in a Bhubaneswar-based family. To break this marriage proposal Sapna’s brother-in- law Ganesh and his wife Priyanka spread morphed pictures of the two sisters on the social media by creating a fake account. Later, the fake obscene photos were made viral by Ganesh.
Following which Sapna’s marriage was cancelled and the whole family was traumatised. The parents out of shame forced the two daughters to consume poison. Later, they threw their bodies into the well with the help of Priyanka and Ganesh and made the death look like a suicide.
However, the police during interrogation of the accused managed to unravel the truth. Police have arrested the girls’ father Pramod , mother Rajeswari, brother-in-law Ganesh and sister Priyanka and forwarded them to court, said R Udaygiri SDPO Anil Kumar Pradhan.
