Executive Officer (EO) of laumunda Gram Panchayat (GP) under Bijepur block of Bargarh district Narayana Debata has been accused of illegally withdrawing Rs 3.12 lakh from TlC Grant here.
A probe conducted by the district administration, led by District Panchayat Officer Pasanta Satapathy, found that Debata had illegally withdrawn the amount from on October 29 at ADB Bank here.
When Satapathy was scrutinising the laumunda GP cash book, he stumbled upon the fact that the amount had not been mentioned there. Both the Sarapanch and EO were found guilty.
At the behest of the district administration, Bijepur BDO Tribikram Kumra lodged an FIR against the accused EO at Bijepur police station. “A case has been registered against the EO and investigation is on,” said Bijepur PS OIC Nirod Dash.
