Fund bungling against Kanas block chief alleged

A majority of Sarpanches and Samiti members of Kanas block under the Satyabadi Assembly constituency on Tuesday met Sub-Collector Madhusudan Dash and submitted a letter requesting him to convene a special meeting of the block PRI members to move a no-confidence motion against block chairperson Manaswiny Baliarsingh.

As many as 32 of 46 members of the block alleged utter mismanagement of development funds against the chairperson. The block has 22 Sarpanches and as many Samiti members, besides the local MlA and MP. The move assumes great deal of significance as Manaswiny is the wife of Umakanta Samantray who won the Assembly polls defeating BJD official nominee Ramaranjan Baliarsingh. Samantray, originally a BJD leader, jumped into fray as an independent after he was denied the party ticket.

It is learnt all the defeated candidates including the BJD leader Ramaranjan, Congress rebel Omprakas Mishra and Congress candidate Prasad Harichandan have put their weight to bring a motion to dislodge the wife of Samantray from the block leadership.  Meanwhile, Sub Collector Madhusudan Dash said he would do the needful as per the law.
