Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested absconding Forest Range Officer of Hemagiri Forest Range in Sundargarh district Ganesh Majhi for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.5 crore.
Majhi had fled from his official quarter in Hemagiri by jumping the boundary wall in Hemgiri on January 4, when he came to know that a Vigilance team has come to nab him in connection with the graft case. He was absconding since then and recently joined duty.
The anti-graft agency was on the lookout to arrest him. After getting information, the sleuths led by Sundargarh DSP P Kishan arrested him from a abandoned toilet in his office premises where he was hiding.
He was forwarded to the court of Sundargarh Vigilance Special Judge on Thursday and has been remanded to jail custody till February 22.
