The Crime Branch (CB) on Wednesday arrested the dismissed Inspector-in-Charge of Biramitrapur police station in Sundargarh district for his alleged involvement in rape and abortion of a minor girl.
Official sources said the CB officers traced and arrested absconding Biramitrapur IIC Ananda Chandra Majhi from a forested area under the Handapa police station of Angul district. He would be produced in court after questioning.
Earlier in the day, DGP Abhay dismissed Majhi from service for allegedly raping the girl and his involvement in her abortion in Raiboga area.
On Tuesday, the DGP had ordered to hand over the case to CB to investigate the matter.
Majhi and four others are accused of raping the minor girl over four months. Also, a Government doctor allegedly helped the accused to terminate pregnancy of the girl at the Biramitrapur Community Health Centre on June 15.
