Every year, the Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August and this year it fell on August 6.
On this day, schoolchildren, college students, working men and women tie special bands and decorated threads on each other's wrists. The exchange of bands is based on love which is most important in friendship.
The NTR Seva Samiti celebrated the day here on Sunday with pomp and enthusiasm. Among others, Seva Samiti president R Tripati Rao, VP Ch Chakradl, secretary S Srinivas Rao, joint secretary B Someswar Rao, members A Bhaskar Rao, MA Bangaraya, N laxman Rao, Ch laxman Rao and A laxmi Prasad were present.
Similarly, the JCI ladies’ Karana Society, the Brahmapur Jewellery Association and the Oxford School celebrated the day.
A mega blood donation camp was also organised on the occasion.
