The French Embassy officials have assured the Puri police to extend all the support they need for the arrest of Mathieu Furic, a paedophilia accused.
Feidric lecourt, French Deputy Consul General in Kolkata, on Wednesday met Puri SP Anup Kumar Sahoo at the latter’s office and assured him every kind of help for the arrest. “If Furic is actually the culprit then he should be punished as the pre law here,” lecourt told mediapersons at Puri.
Notably, Furic was caught red-handed by an American tourist when he was indulged in unnatural sex with some teenage boys at the Penthakota beach under Sea beach police limit on November 26. During the manhunt, the police got to know that Furic had left for Doha, the Capital city of Qatar, from Delhi on December 2. Then it sought help from Interpol by issuing a red corner notice (RCN) against Furic last week.
A senior police official later said that lecourt, being informed about the incident, called on SP and discussed the entire matter with him. later, lecourt went to the concerned police station where a case has been registered against Furic, a French national. “During the talks, we have informed them everything related to the case and they have also appreciated our efforts. The French Deputy Consul General said that they will extend all kinds of possible support the Puri police needs to arrest Furic. They also agreed to send us all required details about the accused,” said the SP.
