Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati of Puri Govardhan Peeth on Wednesday called for freeing the Shree Jagannath temple of Puri from the Odisha Government's "stranglehold" immediately.
The seer's reaction to the media came in the event of the utter irregularities in the rituals of Brahma Parivartan of the temple's deities for their Nabakalebar. The Shankaracharya, who was going to Chandigarh from Delhi, strongly felt that the "Odisha administration" has pushed the temple affairs to a "limitless height of lawlessness by adopting deceitful means".
