An initiative to provide free kitchen for patients and their attendants at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here was launched district Collector Bishnu Prasad Sahoo in the presence of district SP Kavita Jalanr, CDMO Dr BN Maharana and Indian Red Cross Society Joint Secretary AR Khan on Saturday.
This free kitchen project, supported by Thriveni Earth Movers Pvt ltd, would benefit around 40,000 patients annually coming to the DHH, Thriveni Senior GM Col (retired) Sangram Mohapatra told the media. The patients along with their attendants would be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner free everyday under this programme, added Dr Maharana.
Earlier, Thriveni has been providing free ambulance service besides facilitating a helpdesk at the district hospital and assistance in medical aid for needy patients being shifted to Cuttack for specialised treatment. In the tribals-dominated Keonjhar, where a majority of the people are poor, such a corporate humanitarian step is highly appreciated by the public.
