'Fraud' chit fund firm's ad raises eyebrows

Published on:

While the CBI inquiry is on into the business of 44 chit fund and private finance bodies operating in the State and beyond, an advertisement released by the Micro Finance limited which is also in the list of CBI probe, claiming that the company is capable enough to return the depositors’ money has raised many eyebrows.

The advertisement published in a leading Odia daily Sambad on September 30 stated that the company is capable to refund the depositors’ money. As the bank accounts and offices, including the headquarters of the company are sealed it is unable to refund the deposits, the advertisement added.

Rights activist Jayanta Kumar Das in a Press release alleged that the advertisement is misleading the people and the CBI will be held responsible if the company commits any further frauds.

“When the CBI probe is on into the mega chit fund scam in the State, the advertisement released by a fraudulent company claiming to have the capacity to return the depositors’ money is misleading people. Hence, the CBI will be responsible for any further fraud by the company,” said Das.
