Freethought Party of India (FPI) vice-president Harish Chandra Kar visited Britain for a month and went to Bradlaugh’s Constituency.

He came back with a rare photo that was taken when he stood up at the foot of the massive statue of Charles Bradlaugh, the British Statesman of the 19th century. Bradlaugh was the first advocate of India’s full independence from the British Empire.

The FPI organised a special meeting on Friday under the chairmanship of former Bureaucrat Kalyan Ray to felicitate Kar for his successful visit of Great Britain.

Kar said all humans should join hands to take forward the ethical atheistic ideas of Charles Bradlaugh to the nook and the corner of the world and all children should be educated in English medium schools so that they come out of the hostile.

Party president Bijayananda Kar gave welcome address. FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire introduced the theme of the meeting.

CERI, Odisha chief Manas Jena, Pro-Dalit activist Pramod Kumar Pattayat, poet Dr Banamali Barik, ODAM advisor Madhusudan Yadav, FPI joint secretary Gandharb Nayak, writer Prof Prasanna Kumar Karabar, Swapna Bijayini and others were present and congratulated Harish Chandra Kar.

They gave emphasis on the need of removing social hatred, poverty, blind belief and ritualism through prayerless scientific education in English.
