FPI opposes lateral entry in civil services

The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has strongly opposed “lateral entry” of outsiders into the Civil Service as Joint Secretaries.

Such entry of the professionals into the administrative system is sure to undermine the morale of the IAS officers recruited through a nation-wide competitive examination, it said in a release.

“Why should senior IAS officers be denied of their legitimate promotionIJ And why should their positions of Joint Secretaries in the administrative hierarchy be denied to them and be given to the outsidersIJ Once the “morale” of the civil servants goes away, their contribution to the administrative system will be very much affected,” said FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire. He added, “We need officers of integrity in the State and the Central bureaucracy, particularly in the ranks of the IAS officers, to serve the Indian republic with honesty and integrity.”
