FPI hails Triple Talaq Bill passage

Published on:

The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has hailed PM Modi and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for the passage of the Triple Talaq Bill in both the Houses of Parliament.

“With this radical step, PM Modi has brought in “gender equality” and “human dignity” to all the Indian women. No woman would be now treated as a sub-human being to her husband,” stated a FPI Press release. The FPI also suggested that the NDA Government must strive hard to create a “national consensus” in the earliest on the issue having a uniform law on marriage, divorce, adoption and inheritance in accordance with Article 44 of the Constitution.

It also said that the Uniform Civil Code is of urgent necessity for Indians because such a law would create the best social climate for ‘priest-less love marriage.’
