The future of Odia boys and girls squarely depends on imparting quality education in English medium schools. All students — urban and rural — should have easy access to such CBSE course-based schools, said the Freethought Party of India (FPI), while praising Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for launching the project in rural Odisha.
The leaders of the Odia Bhasha Andolan are simply short-sighted and have not fully appreciated why and how the founder of the State of Odisha Barrister Madhusudan Das gave up Hinduism and accepted Christianity and why did he care to study in English medium institutions. Utkal Gourab Madhusudan did have the foresight and did have the leadership qualities to push the case of economic development of Odia people through quality education in English, the FPI said.
Odia language did not die in the days of Fakir Mohan Senapati and it would not die now, nor in future due to the Model Schools, it said
The FPI demanded model schools in each Gram Panchayat and urban slum clusters.
